The Ros Tapestry
'Pons Novus, villa Willielmi Marescalli' a celebration

With the Normans arrival in Ireland in 1169 came a new era in early Irish History. The port and town of New Ross is a vibrant example of the development of a new culture and commerce after this event. The Ros Tapestry, in fifteen large and lively embroidered panels will illustrate the important medieval origins of the town. The finished panels are displayed in St. Mary's Church, New Ross and are highlighted below for you to click on and enlarge.
